It is good to be Home!

Once we pulled in we were so busy. We got in late Saturday night and stayed at Grandmas and Grandpas. We are so glad that they are letting us stay with them. We had to have Kelby at the Hospital On Monday so we visited on Sunday and unloaded the camper. The kids are getting quite fast at popping the camper up.

Zoe went and stayed with her bests friend in the whole world Amelia. She went with her family to Yellow Stone. They had so much fun. Unfortunately she forgot her camera so there are no pictures. They stayed on a lake and had a blast. She loved Old Faithful, morning hikes, swimming, hiking, laughing, playing cards and talking the whole time. She is already starting to get sad to leave Amelia again. She had such a great time!

Auvi went to her friends Ambers and Natasha. She is lucky to have such awesome friends. While she was at their homes, she was able to hang out in our old neighborhood. She loved seeing everyone from church. Once the neighborhood heard she was in town she immediately started getting calls for babysitting. She politly declined because she is enjoying hanging with her friends

Conner went to the Bunkers. He was proud to tell me the Brother Bunker (David) said that he should be Conner Bunker. He thought that was awesome! He loved playing in their amazing yard and enjoyed being with all of the boys and Auby. He decided he would like to have 6 brother like the Bunkers. I was so thankful for Angela and David they are truly awesome friends! I miss them so much.

Kelby unfortunately was at the Hospital. He was such an awesome patient. We learned that Kelby has a fun Funky nose. This made his stay pretty yucky. They couldn’t get the tube down his nose, so he had to drink 10 ounces of yucky meds every hour. It made for a very long tiring trip. He was so awesome, but he missed his Dad a whole lot. Needless to say after not eating for 4 days he was hungry. He was an awesome kid and we are glad that is over with. We are still waiting for the Doctors to ofigure out what we can do next. We may be here for a bit longer as they try to work that out.

Auvi and Zoe are having a great time Auvi has only slept at the house with us 3 nights since we have been in town. I am missing her so much! She stayed with friends and then went to girls camp. I will have her write a blog and put pictures on soon. The day after camp she went to the Derby down south with her friend Amber she has been gone since Friday and wont be back until Wednesday. I am sad that I will only get to see her for a few hours before Zoe and I take off.

Zoe has been either at Amelia’s or Amelia’s has been at Grandmas. They are having so much fun!

Conner and Kelby are in Heaven!! We have been hanging out at the Bunkers. They are doing some remodeling so we were able to help them paint for a few days. The boys loved playing and I had a great time getting to hang out with Angela. Our car was in the shop the whole time. They were so awesome and let us use their cars to get back and forth.

We have also been able to see The Harding’s. Kelby was so excited to see Alex and I was in much need of some Susan time. It has been fun to be able to see old friends. We really miss the friendships that our families have made.

The boys were excited because they were able to do Boys group. They loved seeing their friends. Julie is so awesome with the boys. They Made bread sticks with dough. They thought that was so cool.

It has been a fun few weeks. I am really missing Vern. We are having a lot of fun, but it is not the same with out him.

Off to Utah

We were all excited to hit the road, and then reality hit. Conner woke up and said. “Why isn’t Dad with us?” The kids lost some of their excitement when they realized that Dad really wasn’t coming with us.

After 2 movies, 2 hours of loud crazy made up songs, and 10 guess who games we were officially in New Mexico. Our first stop was the Albuquerque Temple. Auvi went and did baptisms while the kids and I went to get supplies for a picnic. When Auvi was done we had a picnic and then prepared to take off. That is where our excitement began. We realized that our cord that runs the lights to the trailer was broken. The security guard noticed that we were having trouble so he had the engineer come and fixed us up. We were so blessed that they were there to help us. Here are some pics of the kids at the Temple.

Then we started to have car troubles. 4 hours and 2 Auto Zones later we were told that our alternator was going out. Vern was worried it would go out while we were driving so we pulled in to the Wal-Mart next door at 11:00pm and popped up camp. The kids were awesome. They had had the camper popped up in 5 minutes. We had a fun night. After we ran in to go potty we all settled down to sleep. We are now OFFICIAL RV’ERS! To be an official full timer they say you need to stay at least one night at Wal-Mart. We may not have the RV but we did have the Wal-Mart. It was a long night because the security guard said he would check on us often. That was a sweet offer until we realized that he had flashing yellow lights all night and loud music to go with it. It was still a fun experience.

The next morning we got up early to go to the car shop and we woke to a beautiful sight. It was the annual hot air balloon festival. The balloons were taking off from the parking lot next to us. The kids loved it.

We did have some great luck that morning. The kids think that it was do to the balloons. We took the car in and they tested the alternator and it was now running just fine. We hooked the trailer up again and we took off for Colorado. The kids wanted to make it to Utah in time so that we could go to church in our old ward.

The trip form Farmington to Colorado was hard on the kids. We knew that we would be going through several Indian reservations, so we talked a lot about how and why the Native Americans were placed on the reservations. The boys watched Bury My Soul At Wounded Knee with Vern and I before the trip. It was about Sitting Bull and his people. It took you through his life until he was placed and killed on a reservation. As we drove through these small towns, the kids struggled with the realization of what he Native Americans went through. They saw the poverty and the circumstances that the families now live in there. It was a solemn ride for several hours. Here is a great formation we saw on the way. We also found a great rock hot spot. We can’t wait to get the rock home into the tumbler to see how they turn out.

We made it to Colorado!!!!!!!!!! The scenery was beautiful! We loved seeing all of the colors and the land change.

In life I seem to get so busy and never seem to get enough done. I always wish that I could be in 4 places at once! So we couldn’t pass up driving to four corners. Each of the kids was excited to say that they were in all four states at the same time.

There wasn’t a welcome to Utah sign, but we still were excited when we saw the mile markers change. Zoë became quite the side kick. She can read a map and figure out where exactly we are. She loved shouting out that we were going to hit a town in 2 miles.

We stop right after the Hole in the rock and climbed some rocks. Auvi was asleep in the car. We saw the old man in the rock, and fat Buddha. The kids are so happy to be home!

This week Zoë is off to Yellow Stone. Auvi is off to friends. Conner is off to the Bunker’s and Kelby is off to the hospital. We have loved our trip so far, but we are missing Vern a lot. We can’t wait to see him in 31 Days!

TRIAL RUN TO GALVESTON

Before we took off alone we wanted to make a trial run. We had a great time at the beach and relaxing together. Our first night we pulled in at Midnight. But we still had to go see the beach. It was perfect time to be there! All of the crabs and baby fish were out.

Captain Conner had his 7th B-day at the beach. He had a great time, and was given some fun gifts. He even went on an official pirate treasure hunt. At the end he found his Pirate Booty. After running around the beach looking for buried treasure he and Dad chilled for awhile before taking Piggy Back down to the beach for her first time.

Vern had fathers day at the beach and was excited when the kids gave him his new phone. He needed a phone that he could get his faxes and forward calls since his awesome secretary Kati will be leaving him for awhile. Even while we are on vacation Vern still needs to work. Now this is the way to work!

We loved the waves! Soon the kids were getting pretty brave and Mom was getting a little scared!

The kids had a blast and ended up a little water logged. So we decided to try to dig to China. Sorry Cindy we didn't make it. Since they worked so hard we decided to bury Vern, Zoe, Kelby and Conner in the whole. It was all fun until the crabs started biting.

The kids couldn't help feeding the seagulls they were everywhere!

Our fishing trip was suppose to be the highlight of our trip. Kelby has been waiting since last November for this trip. For his B-day he was giving a fishing trip. Everyone wanted to go and we were very excited about it. But the night before we thought that the camper was going to blow over because of wind. Vern and I couldn't decide if we should go the next morning. We called the charter company and they said everything is smooth come on out. So we did. That was a big mistake! The first hour it was pleasant. Soon the sky was dark and pouring rain. Then the waves came in . To be polite, lets just say the whole boat fought over trash cans for the next 4 hours. Finally we decided that it would be better to jump off the boat and end the misery and the boat stopped to let us fish for awhile.

The final numbers are in and we caught 39 Fish. We caught Red Snapper, Atlantic Spade and Vermilion. Unfortunately we were too sick to get a lot of pictures. After about 8 hours we started feeling well and then it was time to go back in. It all made it worth it when we saw all of the fish lined up and the kids were able to pull down their fish. Conner had a real hard time lifting (or trying to lift his fish).

We had a great time and left to go home Monday night. We got home at 2:00 AM went to bed and the phone rang at 5:00AM. We had left the girls in Galveston for girls camp and they had a bad storm come in. The girls tent was hit by lightning at 4:30AM in the morning and caught the ground on fire. But that is another blog for the girls to share. Needless to say they had a great time after their wind storm that took tents out of the ground, the lightening and the water funnel . We had a great time and they did too. Stay tuned for our road trip details. We leave in 4 days!

First stop Utah for Girls camp and a week at friends' houses for Auvi . A Hospital stay and to see his friends for Kelby. A Sleep over at the Bunkers for Conner. A Retreat and trip to Yellowstone with best friend for Zoe. Retreat and spinning Paradise in Kathy's Meadow and meeting her new nephew for Kati. And peace and quiet for Vern.

AND WE ARE OFF!!!

I am sure you have heard our family say that we were going to take off and RV around the USA. Well we haven't gone yet. We are hoping we will go next year. So the kids and I are going to explore as much of America in 3 months as we can (that is the good news). The bad news is that we will have to leave Dad (Vern) home alone to hold the fort down. Last year we took our trip in a tent and nearly washed away from rain in Washington. So this year Vern got us an easy to tow pop-up camper. So we are off to Pop-UP Across America.
